Things to do near Chonburi
While you are undergoing your IVF treatment in Thailand there is a good chance that you will want to see some of the fantastic things that the country has to offer. After all, you have come all this way, completed your treatment and now you want to take a little bit of time to relax and take things easier before you return home. All this sounds great but if you have concentrated all of your research on your medical treatment you may not know exactly what is on offer so here are a few suggestions about places you could visit in Chonburi.
Pattaya
Pattaya is around an hour’s drive from the city of Chonburi and is perhaps best known for the bright lights and for being a party town but Pattaya has so much more to offer. The city is certainly one of the most cosmopolitan in Thailand with the city full of people mixing from different countries and different cultures. With this blend you naturally get some great restaurants and Pattaya has these in abundance and you could eat a different style of food everyday and not get bored.
There are of course plenty of other things to see and do in Pattaya. The beaches of Pattaya are reasonable but you have far better beaches at the nearby island of Koh Larn which is just a 40 minute crossing from Bali Hai Pier located at the southern end of Pattaya Bay. Here you will find far better beaches with small beach front restaurants serving up a selection of freshly cooked Thai meals.
The other attractions include the Sanctuary of Truth, situated off Naklua soi 12. This is a wooden temple that is quite unique and well worth taking the time to visit. To the south of Pattaya you will find the Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens that has superbly cultivated, ornate gardens that you can take your time to wander round or alternatively take a guided tour. The gardens also have a small selection of animals including elephants that always prove to be extremely popular. Heading past Nong Nooch, you will come to the Cartoon Network Water Park that appeals to active people of all ages and is again worth checking out if this is your thing.
Koh Samet
Koh Samet is around 2 hours away from Chonburi by car or to be more accurate Ban Phe where you would catch the ferry to go across to Koh Samet – a short crossing by speedboat. Koh Samet is a National Park and has some of the best beaches in the area and is an excellent getaway for a relaxing weekend. The island is certainly not as quiet as it used to be but this doesn’t take anything away from its natural beauty. There is a wide selection of hotels that cater for every budget and an increasing number of restaurants and small shops. At full moon, the island does host Full Moon Parties but not to the levels that you may experience at some of the bigger islands.
Bangsaen
Bangsaen has long since been a popular weekend getawWhile you are undergoing your IVF treatment in Thailand there is a good chance that you will want to see some of the fantastic things that the country has to offer. After all, you have come all this way, completed your treatment and now you want to take a little bit of time to relax and take things easier before you return home. All this sounds great but if you have concentrated all of your research on your medical treatment you may not know exactly what is on offer so here are a few suggestions about places you could visit in Chonburi.
ay for Thais travelling down from Bangkok due to the long stretches of sandy beaches and the sleepy little village that transforms itself into a social hotspot at weekends. This is an opportunity for Thais from every walk of life to meet, drink, dance and generally party. This is not somewhere where you will find hordes of foreign tourists but in many ways this adds to the appeal of the place as this is a true picture of what Thailand is really like. If you visit Bangsaen you can’t fail to be impressed by the beaches and the small seafood restaurants. If you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet it is probably best to go during the week but if you want to see how Thais party then the weekend is for you!
Koh Chang
Koh Chang is around 5-6 hours drive from Chonburi depending on the traffic and is one of the largest islands in Thailand. The island has some excellent beach resorts with upmarket hotels especially in the White Sands Beach area and indeed this is perhaps the main area where people choose to stay. At night the area is alive with nightlife with a number of bars and restaurants going late into the night and perhaps something more akin to what you would expect to find in Pattaya rather than on an island.
Golf in Chonburi and Rayong
If you are a golf lover and you are fit enough after your treatment then Chonburi and Rayong provinces will be perfect for you. There are over 30 championship golf courses in these provinces alone and most are extremely well priced, certainly compared to what you might be used to paying in your home country. The courses offer different challenges and are easy to play especially if you contact one of the many golfing societies that are around. Using a society will more than likely mean you will get favourable rates and potentially access to courses that you may not otherwise be able to play.
